There’s Roping To Do!

Katie Bane in Coeur d’Alene, ID, needed a saddle that she could spend lots of hours in without experiencing pain in her leg that she gets in other roping saddles. She does some ranch roping and lots of trail riding. I had a tree that would be a good fit for her horse so we put our heads together to try to come up with a solution for her problem. Fortunately she lived here locally and could come to the shop and sit in the ground seat as well as the inlaid seat before I put the finishing touches on everything. We came up with a shape of seat along with an inlaid padding that seemed to alleviate her problem. Thank you Katie for the opportunity to build you this saddle and may you have many long hours of good riding and roping!

The saddle is built on a 3B tree by Rod Nikkel. It features a 15 1/2″ seat, 4 1/2″ x 12″ cantle, in-skirt rigging set at 7/8 position, 3″ x 3 1/2″ Guadalajara horn and finished out at 32 1/2 lbs. Roughout fenders, skirts and seat with inlaid padding. Bucking rolls match the inlay.
