I first met Bruce Sandifer at one of his workshops in western Washington two years ago. I had participated in a few horsemanship clinics over the years but nothing quite like this one with Bruce and Jeff Derby. Having been raised working cattle I was interested in good stockmanship and working with Bruce and Jeff I finally experienced horsemen with the same goals. I wasn’t able to attend Bruce’s “Skills” event until last year in Santa Barbara. It was really a great experience and satisfying to be there with others who valued the same appreciation for “how” the job was done rather than “how fast” you could get the job done. I’m looking forward to another great “Skills” this coming week in Santa Maria, CA. There will be great exhibitions of stockmanship, roping, horsemanship as well as some great vendors who have worked countless hours to produce well made using gear. Whether you live close by or far away (its only an easy 1200 miles for me) make the journey and join us for what promises to be a great weekend July 15-17.
