I’ve never claimed to be a braider. I really admire the work those artisans do but have never had the burning desire to dive into it with great zeal. I do like to “dally” in the braiding arena a little. I think a rawhide braided hobble ring really classes up a saddle so I’ve learned how to braid rings. I also like to put a turks head on to hold my twisted stirrup leathers. I once even rawhide braided a cantle binding and a horn binding with a lot of advice and direction from my friend Monte Beckman. These little items always keep my interest and maybe someday I will get some serious instruction and do a little more. But for now I’ll just try to get better at the few things I do braid.
