I first met Kathryn and her father at the Early Californio Skills of the Rancho held at the Tejon Equestrian Center in July 2018. We were talking saddles and she was looking over my work on a couple of saddles I had displayed in the gear show. About six months later she called to order her “dream saddle” and away we went on an interesting project. The saddle tree, built by Dusty Smith of WYO saddle trees, is a Wade with a 15″ seat and 4″ x 12.5″ cantle. Celtic knots and domestic roses were the theme on this mix of roughout and smooth leather and the addition of matching inlaid padded seat and bucking rolls really sets this one off nicely.
