My last saddle of 2019 and of the decade was created for Bryan Blatt of Westwind Morgans. I’ve known Bryan for a little over 5 years and have ridden two of his fine foundation Morgan horses since 2015. This latest saddle was built for one of his outstanding stallions, Sweets Baybarry. I have a son of Baybarry (Westwind Classy Lad) and thoroughly enjoy this gelding. An easy keeper, quick learner, and with a great disposition he has been a joy to ride and just be around. Sweet’s Baybarry was bred by Harry and Mabel Sweets. He was sired by T-Bone Bimbo out of Sweet’s B Bomb and is 100% Old Foundation Ranching Bloodlines. Classic ranching lines from the West and Midwest Morgan breeding programs. One of the last breeding stallions of the Sweet’s breeding program from Kansas. Bryan wanted a saddle in the genre of the old Visalia style saddles built by D.E. Walker. This tree was built by Rod Nikkel and is a 3B swell with a 4 1/4″ stock and 8″ width. The cantle is 4 1/2″ x 12″ and the bars are 3 1/2″ x 90 degrees. The horn is an old timer with 3 1/2″ height and 3 1/2″ diameter. Oak leaves are the theme here with 66 leaves covering the saddle and breast collar. Thanks Bryan for another interesting project.
